FAQ

Q: We are SO awkward in front of the camera, will you give us direction?

A: Worrying that you will not know what to do in front of the camera is such a common concern. Please rest easy knowing that I have you completely covered. I will provide so much direction, help gently ease you into natural positions, make suggestions for the most flattering angles and use my expertise to guide you on what looks best through the lens. It’s entirely normal for you (and/or your partner), to feel awkward and exposed when someone is taking your photo. Trust me to read the room, recognize what works for you and make the experience meaningful and enjoyable. I have no expectations of you to step in front of me and know what to do, just come exactly as you are, leave the rest to me.

Q: I am worried that my kids might misbehave during the photo shoot?

A: This is something I never want anyone to worry about. My approach to photography is rooted in my own experiences as a mum-of-two, I totally get it, kids can equal chaos, but it’s often in the crazy that I find the most fun too. Our photo shoot can play out however it needs to, making space for them to run out their wild and allow for time if they just need a minute. I find ways to relate to your kids, I don’t mind playing the fool to make them laugh but I am also an expert at reading the situation, reassuring them, respecting them. I make no judgements about their behaviour or of your parenting, ever. I am there to help you feel comfortable with whatever goes down, remind you to breath, and give you all the time you need.

Q: I have no idea what to wear, can you help?

A: Absolutely. Your clothing choices should be comfortable and complimentary, and most importantly a true reflection of who you are. Don’t feel the need to rush out and buy brand new, on-trend clothing for every member of the family. Do take the time to carefully curate some options from what you already have to create a cohesive look. No idea how to do this? I am here to help with every aspect of styling your wardrobe selections, send me some photos of your outfit concepts or your change room selfies. I can help you to visualize what your outfits look like with digital layouts, pull suggestions from websites and guide you on what colours and textures work best with my style of photography. The most important thing: wear what makes you feel good. The best piece of advice I can give you when choosing your outfits is to be comfortable, to feel like yourself. If you want to use this opportunity to doll yourself up like it’s your only chance all year, do it! If you are most yourself in jeans, I totally feel you. Honouring your unique style will make for the most memorable, meaningful photographs.

Q: What locations can I choose from?

A: Deciding on the perfect location for your photo shoot is so important, it can be a place that means something to you, somewhere nostalgic or somewhere excitingly new, a place you’ve never been before, a spot just beckoning for an adventure. I have discovered a number of stunning locations around Perth that I can suggest for our photo shoot – whether you envisioned a field, a walk along the river, a frolic by the ocean or a hike in the hills, I will find the perfect spot, scout it and ensure it is safe, accessible and suitable for our needs. Let me know if you picture somewhere special or if you’d like me to recommend a spot that aligns with your vision for our shoot. If home is where your heart is, I am always humbled when people invite me into their special spaces, I don’t care what is looks like or how instagram-able it might be, light a candle and put on the kettle on. I want to document your life, the people you love, the connections that make you feel safe, where better than in your home. Note: anywhere outside of the Perth Metro area may incur a travel fee.

Q: When will my photo shoot take place?

A: It’s all about the light. My photo shoots take place at times when ideal lighting situations can be achieved. If we are outdoors this is always at sunset, when Golden Hour is upon us, and the light is most flattering. If we are shooting in your home, ensuring their is plenty of bright light indoors is essential, so I will work with you to find a time to suit those lighting conditions, it’s usually around mid-morning to noon.

Q: It looks like rain, will my photo shoot still go ahead?

A: If the forecast is looking less than ideal I will be in touch with you in the days prior to your photo shoot to discuss our options. Moody skies can create some beautiful images but heavy rain simply makes for misery, no one is comfortable wet and cold so I will make the call within 24 hours and we will reschedule to a future date that works for both of us.

Q: Do you shoot extended families or parties & events?

A: I’m sorry, no. Right now I am focused on creating an experience during my photo shoots that encourages immediate families to be as present with each other as possible, to connect and put making memories together at the top of their priority list. When phones are away, the worries of the day are forgotten, when expectations are cast aside, when you are simply there to enjoy each other, I am able to best tell your unique family story.

Q: Will you share my photos online?

A: Yep, I will. Photography is (obviously!) a visual medium, its so important to be able to view a photo and then begin picturing yourself in a photo like it. Having the confidence to book a professional photographer is based greatly on your ability to view their previous work and so a model release is included in my Photography Agreement which is signed upon booking. I love seeing your family and friends enjoy your photos so don’t forget to tag me when you share them too!
